The thread behind the world

About

"Before the first dawn there was only the Weave, and upon it the elder hands drew land from water and breathed life from clay. The old gods have long since gone quiet. The thread is yours now."

What Elderthread is

Elderthread is a god-game sandbox in the spirit of the great pixel world-simulators — but with its own peoples, its own myth, and a world that runs itself. You don't play a character; you play the Elder above the world. Draw continents from the sea, breathe life into clay, and then step back and watch a history you didn't script: villages become cities, cities become kingdoms, kingdoms make war and peace, cross oceans, climb the ages, and raise wonders — all on their own.

When the mood takes you, reach in. Bless a struggling people or drown them in fire. Loose a phoenix or a plague. Carve a mountain range, wake a river, or fling a king across the map with the god-hand. Nothing is on rails, and no two worlds are alike.

The world & its peoples

Four peoples share the Weave. The Kith are wandering folk who make a home of any land. The Grull are broad-backed children of stone and storm who only burn hotter when wounded. The Sylvani keep the elder forests and loose their arrows on the wind. The Karn delve the deep roots of the world and walk through mountains as through open doors. Each builds, sails and wars in its own style — so a glance across the map tells you whose land you're looking at.

Play it anywhere

The whole game is a single self-contained page — no install, no account, no store. It runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone, and you can even download the one file and keep it forever. Play it now →
