Elderthread runs entirely in your browser. We don't require an account, and we don't ask for or sell your personal information. Your game saves live on your own device. When advertising is enabled on this site, third-party partners (such as Google) may use cookies to show ads — and you can opt out of personalized ads at any time. Details below.
What we collect
We don't collect personal information directly. The game requires no sign-up. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical logs — such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited — to keep the site running and secure. Your in-game worlds and settings are stored locally in your browser (via local storage) and are never transmitted to us.
Cookies & advertising
This site may display ads to keep the browser game free. When ads are active:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Third-party services
We rely on a few outside services, each with its own privacy policy:

- YouTube — the trailer is embedded using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode; YouTube may still set cookies if you press play.
- itch.io — if you choose to download the Supporter Edition, you'll be sent to itch.io, which handles that transaction under its own policy.
Children
Elderthread is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can clear your browser's local storage at any time to remove saved worlds, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of personalized ads using the links above. None of this affects your ability to play.
